
Returning Patroller Training
With our winter patrol season concluding, activities are already underway in preparation for warm weather events and the 2025/26 winter season. Please enrol now to secure your spot on the course(s) you need to patrol next season.
Returning patroller requalification:
As in previous years, courses are scheduled in September, with both weekend and midweek evening options in the GTA and Barrie/Collingwood areas. Act now to secure a seat on your preferred course offering by registering as a returning patroller and selecting your course. Access to elearning will be announced once it’s available.
AFA New Candidate courses for returning On-Snow First patrollers:

Completion of the 2025 AFA Skills Record
Complete AFA skills are a mandatory prerequisite to attend a returning patroller AFA Requalification course in September. Returning patrollers (excluding those in the On-Snow First cohort) are responsible to complete their AFA skills by May 31st. Contact your patrol’s AFA Coordinator or Patrol Leader if you still have outstanding skills to complete.
Note: an end of season skill completion session is being hosted by a group of Collingwood area instructors on Saturday, May 3rd.

AFA Instructor Requalification/Recertification:
AFA Requalification for AFA instructors and instructor trainers happens is three phases:
- Prerequisites: AFA Skills Record, Elearning, AFA Written Exam, BLS Written Exam
- AFA Requalification: BLS Skills, PA Skill Evaluation, Diagnostic Evaluation. Five one-day or two evening courses are scheduled during May.
- ICP Professional Development. Six one-day or two midweek evening courses are scheduled during August.
