#StandWithUkraine

Russian invasion of Ukraine

Over the past few weeks many of us have watched the crisis in Ukraine escalate. As first responders it is deeply unsettling watching the violence unfold, and for some, may hit close to home.

Canada is home to the 3rd largest Ukrainian population in the world after both Ukraine itself and Russia. With such a large Canadian-Ukrainian population, we recognize there may be members of the CSP personally affected or those that know others who are.

During this difficult time, members of the CSP may ask what they can do to help.

Patrollers are encouraged first and foremost to help anyone they know personally affected – and ask them what they require. More broadly, the best way for Canadians to help is to donate money to experienced humanitarian organizations. The Canadian government has also provided comprehensive guidance for how you can help during a disaster abroad.

Finally, witnessing violence may trigger a natural emotional response, especially for first responders familiar with traumatic situations. Patrollers are encouraged reach out to the support of their social networks, but also be aware of the Patroller Support Program (PSP) available in Central Zone.

We #StandWithUkraine and hope that the combined impact of the global community will help quickly end this senseless conflict.
