So, you are interested in taking an online exam…
This season we are testing a new delivery model for our yearly exam by offering it online.
If you are interested in participating in this pilot project here is what you need to know:
- Sign up for the pilot is posted separately on ZIMS
- Participants need to book early and attempt the exam well in advance of their recertification course
- Even if your participation results in a successful completion of the yearly examination, you will still need to attend one of the recertification courses
- A survey will be circulated to all participants at the end of the pilot to help improve the user experience and technology moving forward
- If you have not – for any reason – completed the online exam before your recertification course you will need to write the paper exam at your course
How it Works…
In order to take you exam on-line, you will be asked to download a lockdown browser, which locks down your computer from opening other applications and from accessing the internet during your exam. Once the exam is submitted, your computer will return to normal.
The lockdown browser may ask you to adjust your security settings. We highly recommend that you do not adjust your security settings or virus protection to take the exam. If you do so, you do so at your own risk. The Lockdown browser may not be compatible with your mac or pc environments.
There is no technical support.
Any problems you encounter will be taken as valuable feedback in the survey but failure to complete the exam in the online environment will mean you need to attend one of the recertification courses in person to complete a paper copy of your exam.
The lockdown browser is not recommended for use on any computer where the user does not have administrative privileges. Work computers and computers from internet cafes and libraries are not ideal environments for the eExam and we cannot be held responsible for any problems that may occur as a result of the lockdown browser in these environments.
