Here\u2019s your pre-season checklist to make sure you\u2019re ready and qualified to patrol. It\u2019s up to you to be ready. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">For patrollers <strong><em>not yet registered<\/em><\/strong> to return to active patrol duty:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"50\" height=\"47\" class=\"wp-image-1224\" style=\"width: 50px;\" src=\"https:\/\/skipatrolcentral.com\/wp01\/wp-content\/uploads\/Check-Box-2.jpg\" alt=\"\"><strong>Register as a returning patroller <\/strong>so we know you\u2019ll be back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Enroll in a one-day AFA Requalification course now. Courses are filling up fast! (Note: completion of a paper-based version should be arranged in advance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Pro Tip: <\/em><\/strong>While the exam is open book it is highly recommended that patrollers prepare by reviewing their manual prior to attempting the exam. A Written Exam Review 2022 guide is available in the Student Downloads section of ZIMS. This can be accessed from the Main Menu screen (there\u2019s a link on the Personal Screen to the Main Menu).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To access:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you don\u2019t have the e-exam website bookmarked, go to <em>ZIMS Personal Screen&gt;&gt;e-Exam 2022 Landing Page<\/em>. Click on the @ symbol and you\u2019ll be directed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/exams.edu.skipatrol.ca\">e-learning landing page<\/a>. Click on the link at the bottom of the page (you may need to scroll down to reveal the link.<\/li><li>Log into the e-exam site and select the \u201cAdvanced_first_aid_2022_exam\u201d.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three sections to complete: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The National exam instructions<\/li><li>The exam itself (100 multiple choice questions); and<\/li><li>The Completion Confirmation<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: You have two hours to complete the exam. The <strong>passing grade is 80%<\/strong>. If you do not achieve a grade of 80% on your first attempt, you must wait at least 24 hours before attempting the exam. Patrollers only have two attempts to achieve a mark of 80%. Failure to achieve a passing mark of 80% after two attempts means the patroller must either take a leave of absence for a year or successfully complete the new patroller training course in full to patrol this season. It is strongly recommended that patrollers invest a substantial amount of time preparing for a second attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>2022 Update: <\/em><\/strong>The screen views on the exam site are different this year due to changes to the Moodle platform used to host the exam. You will not see your responses to each exam question or be asked to review the exam at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To confirm your exam result (pass\/fail):<ul><li>If successful: you\u2019ll see a prompt to complete the Completion Confirmation<\/li><li>If unsuccessful: you\u2019ll see a red box with \u201cFailed: Receive a grade\u201d<ul><li>To find your exam grade, go to the Main Menu screen (click on the \u201cAdvanced_first_aid_2022_exam\u201d in the navigation path near the top of the screen). Then click on the \u201cAdvanced_first_aid_2022_exam\u201d in bolded blue text in the Completion Confirmation section at the bottom of the screen.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"50\" height=\"47\" class=\"wp-image-1224\" style=\"width: 50px;\" src=\"https:\/\/skipatrolcentral.com\/wp01\/wp-content\/uploads\/Check-Box-2.jpg\" alt=\"\"><strong>Step Four: Attend a AFA Requalification Evaluation Course<\/strong>. Time to show up &amp; shine!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please honour your enrolment in the course by showing up. If your work or personal schedule is unpredictable, enroll in an early course to give yourself an alternative if you need to reschedule. We will not be scheduling any additional courses to accommodate no-shows or cancellations. If <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you miss<\/span> your course, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you risk<\/span> sitting out the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>2022 Update: <\/em><\/strong>You can requalify patient assessment using either the 2020-2021 version or the new 2022 version introduced this year in the eAFA 2022 Requalification e-learning course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evaluation Reminders:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Help us keep the classroom environment safe. <strong>Self-screen for COVID-19<\/strong> and do not attend if you\u2019re symptomatic or should be self-isolating<\/li><li><strong>Arrive on time<\/strong>, and with the <strong>supplies needed <\/strong>for the day \u2013 a lunch, face mask, eye protection, a pen\/pencil, a pocket face mask and kneeling pad for CPR, and anything else you need to successfully complete your patient assessment, diagnostic and BLS evaluations.<\/li><li><strong>These courses are evaluation events<\/strong> &#8211; the objective is to evaluate your skills and abilities against CSP standards. It\u2019s up to you to be ready to be evaluated. Patrollers are allowed <strong>two attempts<\/strong> at the diagnostic evaluation. Second attempts will be pre-scheduled and may require you to travel to an alternate location. Patrollers who do not pass on a second attempt have the option of a leave of absence or successfully completing the new patroller training course.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Pro Tip: <\/em><\/strong>The CSP national website has everything to need to prepare. Just sign-in as a member and click on My CSP Student Training Resources:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Advanced First Aid Manual: the latest version can be found here. Focus on chapters four to seven &#8211; Patient Assessment, Oxygen, Basic life support, Automated external defibrillator (AED)<\/li><li>Training Documents:<ul><li>Patient Assessment Checklist \u2013 2022 version<\/li><li>Written Exam Review 2022 \u2013 a study guide for this year\u2019s exam<\/li><li>2022 AFA Diagnostic Scenario Evaluations General Information \u2013 know what to expect during your diagnostic evaluation experience.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Previous Exams:<ul><li>2021 AFA Written Exam and Answers \u2013 another great study guide to help prepare<\/li><li>2021 CPR Written Exam and Answers \u2013 to help you prepare for the BLS requalification<\/li><li>2021 Diagnostic Exams \u2013 Scenarios 1-5 \u2013 use these to familiarize yourself with some typical exam scenarios and to understand the marking system used by evaluators<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Pro Tip: <\/em><\/strong>Practice some diagnostic scenarios with some patrol friends to get familiar with typical AFA scenarios and how the evaluations will be conducted.
